Oral Maxillofacial

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is responsible for comprehensive oral & maxillofacial clinical services, the didactic and clinical instruction in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Local Anesthesia and Pain Control for the undergraduate dental students, and a 4 years FCPS postgraduate residency training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  

The Department is fully committed to patient care, student and resident education, the community, and the profession, continuing dental and medical education, and scientific research and publications. 

Patient Care Services 

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the specialty of dentistry that includes inpatient and outpatient care, sedation and outpatient anesthesia, the management of diseases of the teeth and their supporting soft and hard tissues (dentoalveolar surgery), surgical reconstruction of inadequate bone structure of the jaws, evaluation and planning of treatment and placement of dental implants to replace one or more missing teeth, treatment of head and neck traumatic injuries to the face, jaws, mouth and teeth, diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease, diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment oral cancer and other diseases in the maxillofacial region, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic) to improve the function and appearance of patients with such conditions as cleft lip and palate and other congenital skeletal defects, diagnosis and surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, medical & surgical management of trigeminal nerve disorders, salivary gland diseases and other oral & maxillofacial surgical areas.
